The Team

The Jex Capital Allowances team has extensive knowledge of the disciplines required to formulate and agree a capital allowance claim, having worked in this complex field of taxation for over 30 years. 

The team at JexCA utilise their specialist capital allowance taxation and quantity surveying skills to identify every aspect of property and assets that qualify for Capital Allowances, to produce a measured and quantified HMRC compliant analysis and report to be submitted with self-assessment tax returns.  

Their aim is to maximise the tax relief available to you.

The team is led by Jonathan Jex and Stephen Metheringham and supported by regional surveyors and casework administrators.


JONATHAN P JEX

A quantity surveyor by training both in private practice and contracting, Jonathan has specialised in capital allowances since 1990, establishing his own practice in 1995.
 
Jonathan has extensive experience of all aspects of capital allowances relating to property and lectures on the subject to accountancy bodies, surveying practices, universities, property companies and CPD.

STEPHEN METHERINGHAM BSc(Hons) MRICS

Following qualification as a quantity surveyor and as a chartered surveyor in 1997, Stephen focused on retail and office fit-out with private practice and contracting organisations.

In 1999 Stephen utilised his skills to transfer to the field of capital allowances, working within a wide range of property sectors including retail and property portfolio sampling.
 
Stephen’s experience within mechanical and electrical services sector coupled to extensive construction knowledge is invaluable on complex acquisition and refurbishment capital allowance claim computations.

CHRIS BRYDONE BA, FCA, CTA (Fellow), ATT

Chris is a specialist tax consultant and a qualified Chartered Accountant.  Chris previously worked at KPMG as a Senior Tax Manager, qualifying shortly after the merger of his employer KMG Thomas McLintock & Co with Peat Marwick Mitchell and Co to form the practice as its is known today. 

During his 20 years with the company, Chris provided Tax advice to owner managed businesses of all sizes including family PLC.  

Chris is a council member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and has special responsibility for overseeing the network of UK branches and frequently lectures at their seminars.
